I know intermittent fasting is supposed to be 16 hours off and 8 hours on. And I know that's supposed to be good for the body's insulin etc...and good for weight loss

My question is -
will doing 14 hours fasting and 10 hours eating be at all helpful for either insulin levels and/or weight loss?

Right now, I'm not sure I can pull off 16/8, but 14/10 would be doable (still a stretch but doable).

Is there any benefit or am I just stretching myself for now reason?

Please advise!!!!

Thank you!

Adding:

12/12 is natural for me - works well for my schedule.

Happy to try to push it to 14/10 if there is benefit.

Please let me know!

I’ve heard there is benefit. Plus if you have your hours not eating it’s still good.
Like I do 16/8. But I think the most beneficial for me is I don’t eat after 9.
When I have my nighttime tea I think about chocolate and crumpets but it’s after hours so don’t have. I think that alone is saving me 100s of calories.

Anything over 12 starts being helpful. That's how long it takes for the body to get into fasting mode.

Read up on it. Humans don't react well to it (some animals do)

Is this something you're supposed to do every day? Do you eat more during the 8 "on" hours than you normally would?

Personally I make sure to eat at least 1200 calories during my 8 hours.
