It depends on who you are booking. Some charge an extra fee and some will come for free if you have a certain amount of people.

If I recall correctly they come and charge a per person fee (perhaps a minimum # is necessary)

Are u being charged 1k for 5 faces? Thats the latest trend among "top" makeuo artists. I have a relative who is a successful lawyer. He is marrying off his daughter in a hotel 2.5 hours out of NYC. They got quoted $2,500 for 5 faces. He was laughing that he is a successful lawyer who bills less hourly..

Tell us how much you're being charged and for how many people. And is there kalla as well? $125/$150 per person is within the normal range for coming to the hall. A kallah we paid $650 for the kalla plus 2 others.

Depends on how far she needs to travel and how many faces you have and how much she’s charging per face
If you share the price per face, maybe people can give you an idea as to whether or not she’s overcharging for travel.

Usually there's a minimum of somewhere between 3 - 5 faces in order for it to be worthwhile for the makeup artist to travel. If it's very far, sometimes they may charge for travel as well.

We used one person to do hair/sheitels and makeup on kallah and family females/wedding party - Bayla Morrison - she charged per person.

What are you being charged? Brooklyn prices are expensive.
$100-150 a face is normal. It's usually cheaper if you go to them.
If it includes a kallah it's usually more.
If you want them for the day and to stay till after chuppah and touch up there's an extra charge for that too.
If the makeup artist doesn't live local it's gonna be more expensive too.
Also you make it sound like you're being charged without your permission. YOU booked the artist. You should inquire about her prices. Take it or leave it.

Even when artists charge per person it's usually more than they would charge if you'd go to their salon.

Id call Bayla Morrison and ask her what her charge(s) is now -- she was a pleasure to work with and did an excellent job. And it would give you a price comparison if nothing else.

Another vote for Bayla. We used her for three weddings and were extremely happy with her work.

Your only being charged a "crazy" amount if you book her. No one's forcing you to use her.
2 years ago I got quoted 1165 for the bride plus 4 others in Monsey for a makeup artist who was local so there were no travel charges..
