Not actually on topic but I don’t find five toilets excessive in a large house.

Many normal sized homes will have four toilets. One in the finished basement, one in the master, one in the powder room and a fourth in the bathroom that services the children’s bedrooms. And that’s in a suburban three bedroom middle class home.

Add one more bathroom of you have more than three bedrooms or some kind of in law guest suite and you have five.

Now it is becoming more common for there to be 2 bathrooms in the master bedroom suite.

I clean my toilet seats with isoprobyl alcohol.
Cleans and kills germs.

I clean my toilet bowls with comet.

When I am inspired I bleach my vegetable cutting board from red pepper stains but then I have to wash it so well before use that it usually just remains stained.

My toilets are clean.

I wish. My house is a pre war house and it has 4 bedrooms plus finished attic and a guest/in law suite. (which we use as living space/office) One bathroom upstairs, and one downstairs in the guest suite.

More modern houses usually have more bathrooms, but often smaller bedrooms.

Completely true as you can generally date a home based on what kind of indoor plumbing a home has as well as the size of closets in the bedroom.

I have lived in homes that were built at the turn of the century so ONE indoor bathroom upstairs was a luxury. Often a pantry or closet would be converted on the ground floor to a tiny powder room.

En suite bathrooms in "middle class" homes didn't become a thing until probably the late 1960's - and then they were generally small with a small shower - small sink and a toilet.

Of course if a home was originally built for a wealthy person, it might have additional bathrooms. My friend lives in a home that was built just after WW II but it was assumed there would be a live-in maid and so there were originally four bathrooms - and then an addition with a master suite was built so five toilets. This was a "nice" home when built - for a professional - but was not a mansion or even a McMansion by any stretch of the imagination.

My friend lived in a two bedroom apartment in Manhattan and it had a maid's room with a toilet off the kitchen. There was only one bathroom for the family so I guess the maid was allowed to bathe once a week but was otherwise giving herself sponge baths from a basin. This was a middle class West Side apartment built probably in the 1920's.
