My 3 month old sleeps the best at night after a bath. The problem is, his skin is getting dry from the daily bath, regardless of how much lotion I pile on him. But if I cut down the baths, he doesn't sleep very well at night.
Anyone have a similar dilemma? Anyone have solutions?

Are you using soap or shampoo? Just water, for a 5 minute bath, should be OK. No lotions needed on a newborn.

I think you are bathing your baby too often. Ask your doctor. Maybe you can switch soaps or lotions. Use aquafor. Good luck

I use Johnson and Johnson baby wash and lotion.
I know that daily is too much, but I want him to sleep well. That's exactly the problem!
I'll try without soap, thanks!

Don't use Johnson, in general. It's full of chemicals.

When my baby was really dry I used Aveeno nighttime balm and it was great. A thicker lotion but it really made a huge difference! Was recommended by my pediatrician

No soap and try a better lotion like cerave moisturizing cream. A cream is much more hydrating than lotion. We give baths every night too for all our kids and just skip soap if possible but never skip on the cream.
Also you might want to try a more gentle soap. My dermatologist recommended that we use cerave hydrating cleanser (it’s non foaming) on our babies with sensitive skin

This .
I always bathed nightly but I use unscented soap that is gentle on the skin and I use unscented moisturizer afterwards. (Cerave for soap, aveeno, aquaphor for moisturizer).

Unscented? Or fragrance free? They're not the same...

J and j makes my kids skin so dry. I use regular dove body wash, but I wouldn't use it every night. Just do a little relaxing in some warm water most nights.

My pediatrician told me that Johnson's lotion doesn't do anything. It just smells good. She recommended Aquaphor when my baby's skin was dry, and I noticed a difference in days.

I came from a culture that everyone showers/bath daily. Put a little shampoo on hair and from there on toes and private parts. Everywhere else just water. 2 or 3 times per week u use some soap all over.

Soap can be very drying, and so are many lotions - that's how they get you to buy more. I use natural products, and since they are so expensive, I am more often making my own. I just made an awesome belly butter that I am in love with!

If baby gets a nightly bath, just warm water is enough.
I also thought johnson is the best baby wash. They use it in the hospital.

And this ladies and gentlemen is Exhibit A of businesses caring about profits instead of you.
Why don't they use Babyganic, Honest Company or anything organic? For that matter why do they even bathe baby? Numerous studies show how the vernix protects the baby.
Bc Johnson supplies the hospital so they create automatic customers who wouldn't think twice.

Hmmm. I don't know. I use cerave. There's no scent to it. And it's good for dry skin.
