In my family, we do not give Chanukah gifts. Only gelt. How do I make Chanukah gelt exciting for my kids? They are 6 and 4 and are not exactly ecstatic when I hand them a few dollars after we light menorah. Any tips from more creative moms?

Take them on an outing to spend the few dollars you give them. Make the experience of doing that special.

Four is a little young but six is not too young for a "collection". Can you start him/her on a cool coin collection--either the dollar coins or the fun state quarters--maybe of places you have been or states you have visited/where family members live.
