You have to communicate.

I wahm and have meetings very occasionally (like not more than 2x a year).
My kid got sick during that meeting. When the babysitter called me I told her I was in a crucial meeting and could it wait till I was done and get home.

Of course she understood and gave kid tylenol and put to sleep in separate room
