My 10 year old daughter has been asking me for froot loops but I'm hesitant to buy them for her. I looked at the ingredients, one of them being BHT. I've noticed that a lot of cereals have this ingredient. Does anyone know anything about BHT? Is it harmful? Of course I'd rather her have a healthier cereal, but she's getting sick of Cheerios.

My husband recently bought a huge box, and it only has a K on it - no certifying agency. Do any frum Jews even consider this kosher?
BHT - Wikipedia
I would use it (or a more kosher equivalent) only for Shabbos cereal.

You can get her fruity Cheerios instead.

That’s what I buy as a treat. I can’t get myself to buy colorful sugarinfested junk

You can get those snack sized packs, and give it to her a few times instead of buying a box and letting her eat it every day.

As far as I heard a k can be put on by any company and doesn’t signify a specific hashgacha. I may be wrong I heard this a while ago.

I buy my kids Cascadian Farm organic fruitful o's
Definetely not the same as Fruit Loops but a good enough substitute
K in general is NOT a good hashgacha by many standards, but on Kelloggs products ONLY it is acceptable

She will find a way to get it without you knowing I would buy a box divide it for once a week Shabbos morning to give into that craze so she don’t look for it elsewhere

We only eat sweet cereal as a treat on shabbos or a special day. You can try that as well.

I'm happy to buy my kids froot loops once in a while, but we treat it like candy, not breakfast food. I don't think there's any treat I would never buy them in principle, but we do have very set times for when treats are given.

I think the K on Kellogg’s is Vaad of New England but I’m not positive.

K on Kellogg is fine.
Why is it froot loops or cheerios? There are cereals in between.
Froot loops is basically sugar and fruit coloring. There is no redeeming factor.
What about cinnamon life? It does have coloring, but it is not froot loops coloring.
Or even cocoa puffs, or cocoa pebbles?
I think all colored cereal is disgusting. No matter how much my kids beg, I would not buy it. And no my kids dont sneak it from their friends. I allow enough junk but this is just disgusting.

K on Kellogs is reliable. There's a story behind it.
Fruit loops uses natural coloring.
BHT is a preservative to keep the cereal crunchy

Target has a Fruit Loops version that has some fruit coloring in it. Sugar-wise it's just the same, I'm sure.

A K can be put on by any company to signify it didn’t use an tried ingredients. It’s not a hashtag a. The k on Kellogg’s actually stands for the vas’s hakashrus of Manchester.
