What’s the plot or message of a story that had a huge impact on you?

It's usually not the plot or message that leaves an impact. It is how well the story is written that gets me to think about it.

Here's a moving one:
Youngest brother favored by his father, scorned by his siblings. Siblings conspire to get rid of him, he goes through trials, grows as a person, eventually reconnects with his family in love.
Why do you ask?

A girl kidnapped at age 5, survived in the Amazon rainforest with monkeys for five years, then was found by hunters and sold to a brothel at the age of 10 where she was enslaved. After escaping and living in the streets, surviving more abuse and challenges she eventually found freedom and later married and had children. The resilience and inner strength within a human being is amazing.
