There's a patch of hard deodorant under the arm of one of my short sleeve layering tops. Any ideas on how to break it down? It doesn't come out in the wash. I also tried soaking it in vinegar for 2 days.

Do you mean a stain or an actual piece of stick deodorant?
Go to thespruce.com and search How to Remove Deodorant Marks From a Shirt. They suggest at least six methods including commercial removal products.

It's a hard raised stain. I guess it's a build up of deodorant that I didn't notice because it's so close to the cap sleeve seam.
