We own too many toys and the kids dont appreciate the ones we have anyway. They play with lego and that's it. I want to get non toy presents this year, maybe trips to fun places, one on one dates with a parent...and looking for more ideas.
My kids are little 9, 5.5, 4
What ideas do you have?

My kids just got a NakiRadio, as a combined present. I think it would work well for your kids' ages, as mine are similar. We also have way too many toys!

Where are you located?

Membership to museums or zoos is a great gift. Other experiences like shows are nice to but greatly depend on where you live.

My kids own magnatiles, cars, cliks.
We don't get them gifts or toys because we can't afford more. They get love, we play games together. That's their Chanukah gift.

Older dd wanted a new light fixture (simple chandelier) in her room.
Younger dd wanted a specific boxed set of books.

When I was a kid my favorite Chanuka gift that I ever received was a black turtleneck from a specific brand that I wanted. I wore that turtleneck until it turned gray from after so many washes. Sometimes it’s the simple things that kids want (that are not toys) that make the best gifts. Think of any items your kids requested or said they wished they had. Even a specific hat or headband that they desire. It doesn’t have to necessarily be a clothing item. It can be something for their room etc.

We always got socks one night. Not regular socks, but interesting pictures and patterns, that you could never wear for school. Works at any age, from two up to grandparents.

Another night we got a book.

Semi-luxurious bath products another night, but that better with children slightly older than yours.

Once we got a dog! That present lasted sixteen years, and encouraged healthy exercise among the entire family, but you have to be prepared for the work involved, and wouldn't work for all communities.

I love the idea of a 1:1 date or date with both parents rather than a gift. I think I'm taking that idea and running with it.

My friend bought beautiful patterns of fleece (Joanns had doorbusters 70% off, they may have still/again) For about 4.50 a yard, and you need about 2 yards each for a blanket/throw, you can use just as is, or stitch around it if you sew. You can get to match their linens or just fun designs (donuts, planets).

Some really nice patterns they didn't have available to order on-line but have in many stores.

Last year we got my kids a fish tank as one of their presents. I bought a fish tank before an frheu unwrapped that. On their vacation, we took them to the pet store ant they picked out fish, gravel, and some decorations.

This year they are getting naki radio from my parents.

We got some of them a cheap mp3 player loaded with music

You can do a season's pass to somewhere really nice.

Cozy pajamas

Personalized bathrobes or towels

A special trip

I made a personalized memory game with pics of them and also personalized playing cards

One year I got them scooters and a riding toy for baby.

You can also do a nice set of parsha books or other books they are into

One year we got a key board
The 2 older girls 5 and 4 just banged on it
Then I started hearing something that almost sounded like a real song
I walked into the living room and my 3 yr old son was actually playing a song with 1 hand

I want to get a keyboard for ds. He keeps asking and seems to be musical. I'd get him lessons over the summer. But I don't know what specifications to look for. Can any piano players tell me....do I want 61 keys or 88, weighted keys or touch sensitive??

I absolutely love this idea for older dd. Do you purchase music separately, or does it come with music? (Jewish music)

Sorry, completely tech ignorant
