We had one of the Savta Simcha books and my 4 and 5 year olds (my "big kids") loved it! They begged me to finish the last couple of chapters on Shabbos. I'm sure they didn't follow everything, but it was funny and engaging enough to keep them quite interested anyway. Are there any other books like this? I know there's a few others in the Savta Simcha series, but if anyone could recommend more, I'd love to increase my big-kid-book repertoire! Or what other chapter books are good for reading aloud too 5-6 year olds?

Oooh, I loved Savta Simcha as a kid! Are they too young for Baker's Dozen and Kids Speak? Probably...that's what I continued with after I finished all the Savta Simcha books.

Thank you both, I will look into them! If the content is a bit over their heads, that's okay. It just has to have enough nonsense to keep them amused and interested. At least at the beginning, I read this one mainly to try to calm them down and/or put them to sleep. I think we'll be rereading them as they get older in order to actually appreciate the content more.
