We’re currently dealing with applying to high schools for our oldest. Since we’ve never been through this before, I’m wondering what to expect regarding interviews. (Oldest child is a girl)
Do my husband and I have to go?
Do they just interview our child or are we interviewed as well?
What kind of questions are asked?

I went with my HS girl, and dh went with our HS boy. They interviewed the kids and us. I remember being asked why I think the school is a good fit for my child, and if I think she can be successful there. We were also both asked about the best and most challenging traits of our children, and how we deal with them. I don't remember much else, it was more of just chatting.

Dh and I went to both girls and boys interview. We used the opportunity to learn more about the school. We ruled out schools based on how the interview went.

Both of you should go unless there’s a specific reason why one parent can’t make it

The school will specify if they want both parents present. I would, however, encourage you both to go unless it's a big hardship.
