I just got a bread machine and want to start using it to make challah, although ideally I’d like to be able to separate challah which probably means I’d have to do some by hand in addition to the bread machine. Does any standard 5 lb challah dough recipe work in a bread machine, and if so, does anyone know how much of the dough could fit in the bread machine?

The bread machine instructions should say how large a batch it can hold based on the number of cups of flour. I'd be surprised if any bread machine would hold 5 lb. I know people who will run 2 bread machines simultaneously and put the 2 doughs together to say a Brocha and take challah.

I have a 2.5 lb bread machine (large size) and the max I can fit in 6.5 cups of flour
I would think you would have to make 5 lb dough in 3 batches
