I know a few chasidish Ezras. I think it’s become more common .

It is unusual, but if it is after a grandfather by all means give it. My nephew (chasidish) is Ezra, after a great grandfather.

After all, it is a nice name, as nice as any of those in your son's future class.

Pretty uncommon but not unheard of. I think Oizer is more common, but that could just be the people I known. Ezra is about as common as Amram, Hillel, Berachya, etc. IME.

I personally don't know of any Ezras in chassidish circles (BP), but I wouldn't hesitate if it would be a family name.
