I made a sponge cake - its the never fail sponge cake recipe from the spice and spirit I have made 100 times before. A friend was helping me. I mixed the yolks and other ingredients while she beat the egg whites, and then I told her to mix the two gently together. Unfortunately I left the room, and she used the beaters to combine the two mixtures. (her english is not great) I put it in the oven, but will it still be edible?
It's for a special occasion so I want it to be nice!

Probably heavier than normal.
A heavier icing than you would normally use for sponge cake might balance that.
