Has anyone gone to Newport in the winter? Or am I insane for considering it?
The Breakers, the Elms and Rosecliff are open according to their website. Would we be missing anything that's a must-see to make it not worthwhile to do this trip now and wait for better weather?
What are kosher options there, around the area, or on the way from NY?

DH and I went one January, when I was about five months pregnant. It was chilly but fine. We did the Breakers and some house tours. No kosher food. We packed our own.

We did it many years ago as a day trip. We just did the mansions. Going towards the water was way too cold .

If going with kids, check out IT Indoor Ropes course about midway, literally adjacent to I-95. Another cool place to check out is Book Barn in Niantic, also just a few minutes off the highway. In Newport, you can also check to see if the Touro Synagogue is open and giving tours in the winter, and if you bundle up, the Cliff Walk could be nice and will definitely not be crowded.
