I'm looking for a book that will explain the laws on Jewish mourning from a Frum perspective for a non religious Jew.
I think she will greatly appreciate learning the laws and spiritual meaning behind them, yet don't want to overburden her either with something too long or extensive.
Any recommendations?
Thank you!

The Jewish Way in Death and Mourning by Rabbi Maurice Lamm is a classic.
Remember My Soul by Lori Palatnik. I haven't seen it myself.

These are the two books I came here to recommend! I actually used Remember My Soul to teach a year long class. And the Rabbi Lamm book is the best for what OP is looking for. This is what most chevra kadishas give to non frum families. My father (conservative) used it for his own understanding of what to do for his father who wanted a halachic burial.

Let them know a good rav to contact localy, one used to it and not traumatized from qs lol. We used the ashkenazi families rav and he was so happy to deal with a frum family so we knew he would understand anyone

Is it The Infinite Light? Because earlier I googled Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan mourning and this came up but I didn't have time to find a description.

That is a great idea! I don't want to overstep my bounds by making them feel like there's possibility that they're doing something that's not right...
But if anyone personally knows of a Rav in or near Eden Prairie Minnesota please send me the info, I would love to pass it on!
