I write a blog series for those who have made aliyah or planning to make aliyah called The Olim Files. After popular demand on how to do sponga (something I wish I had a resource when I made Aliyah many years ago) I made a video of myself doing sponga and posted it on YouTube.
This is what I call Method #1. Follow up video with Method #2 coming soon.
A few points not mentioned in the video:
To avoid lots of suds, first fill the bucket with water and then add the sponga soap
Sweep the floor first

If there is a technical name, I'm not sure what it would be. Since I'm not pouring water all over the floor (Method #2) then I guess 'dry' is more descriptive than 'wet', though the rag is wet and not the floor...

that's American sponga! I would love to pour water on the floor and give it a good bath. But I can't do that to my floor.

I don't know if this is called sponga, when I was there for a visit I saw water gushing down from the porch and the lady was saying she's making sponga.

You can do a little hole in your "smartout " to fix it at the sponga stick

I've recently discovered the broom method. Basically, those rubber brooms they sell in the makolet are actually amazing scrubbers for after the water, before the sweep up. My floor has never been so clean.
What do you all use for smartootim, for all day wipe ups? I can't get the hang of those microfiber cloths, but old cotton rags are just too wet.

Your so amazing for creating and video (and the more to come)!
Is a 1/4 capful the real amount ur suppose to use for a full bucket of water. If yes, I’m clearly doing something wrong because I fill the bucket and liberally pour from the floor cleaner. I would say a nice full cup worth. Too much??

Because regular mops push around dirty water. In Israel, the floors have a drain. You push the water down the drain.

Nice to see the video here. She's a friend of mine, and her blog is amazing.

Mops are not made for stone floors. They are made for wood or linoleum.

I think a full cup worth is WAY too much. I pour a cap full, maybe a little bit more, thats all.

Really? What do you do in your house then? Wipe it up with a dry rag?

most houses have a drain by the shower
those with a walk in shower take the water there
those with a mirpeset take the water to the drain there
and those on the ground floor wash out through the front door
a full cup is waaaay too much- I just pour a little bit

Not everyone cant sponga to their walk in shower (Or dont have one )
I am on the ground floor and dont sponga out. I just use enough water each time. I never throw out a lot of water at once, so each time the sponga stick is used, the water gets soaked up by the shmatta and then I pour a little bit more water out.
