Sorry to be so imprecise.
Saute onions and mushrooms. Sprinkle and stir in some beef broth powder, at water. You can add some cornstarch stirred in a little water and maybe soy sauce till smooth to thicken.

Here's a really decadent dairy version. I can't make it too often, because I end up licking the pan!

Saute mushrooms and onions in butter. Add some chopped garlic, and stir for a few minutes. In another pot, warm milk to almost a simmer, and then remove from heat.

With the hot mushroom mixture, add some flour to the pan and stir for a few minutes until the flour is absorbed. Add more butter and more flour if you feel like it. The ratio should be 50/50.

Stir the hot milk into the butter/mushroom/flour pan, and whisk until thick and smooth. Remove from heat so it doesn't burn.

Once you are sure that there are no lumps, you can add shredded cheese of your choice, something mild and soft, or a bunch of parmesan (or no cheese at all). Stir to get the cheese all nice and melty.

Once it's done, add some heavy cream to smooth everything out and thin it as much as you like.

Fresh cracked pepper and some salt to taste. I like to add a dash of nutmeg because it's adds a subtle complexity.

This is amazing over linguine, or the store bought ravioli that you get in the refrigerator section.

Now I'm hungry just thinking about it!
