I love the name Shachar--for a girl or a boy--but in the US, the "ch" is too difficult to pronounce.
(And I would never substitute "Dawn" for "Shachar.")

My daughter's name with my favourite meaning to it is Gavriella. Secretly I really love my daughter Perla's name most I suppose.

I have a very Jewish sounding name and always hated that growing up (I grew up OOT and none of my neighbors or friends could pronounce my name). Therefore I prefer names that have a good English equivalent, or sound good just as is.

Rifka (Rebecca)
Rochel (Rachel)
Also, the source of the name is super important. Not sure why people give names that have iffy historical roots (ex: Daliah, Na'ama, Dina, Tamar)

In the mishna there were plenty of R Yishmael. So it seems it's not necessarily straightforward to avoid names with an iffy past.
