Its way too early to be thinking about this, but I'm due in the middle of Elul and I like thinking about names. Does anyone have any name ideas tied davka to Elul? Not Tishrei as I won't be allowed to go that late. Boys and girls both please, and if I can I'd like to add the second name Rus after a family member so if anything goes with that it'd be helpful. We like traditional, accepted in Chassidish communities, but also not super common (so not Sara or Chana or Moshe or Dovid).

Thus far I've thought of Shifra (for shofar, but DH vetoed it), Elimelech for the meaning, Chaim for davening for a good life etc. (Though maybe too common).

Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Interesting, I never knew that! Doesn't really work with our last name though.

I have a Shmuel. Hashem listens. I love that name for Elul and Tishrei season we want hashem to listen to us.

I heard that there is a minhag to name Rachamim. Though I think not common amongst ashkenazim.

The meanings in names like Chananya or Elchonon would go nicely with Elul. And they're both a little less common.
