Anyone sends to ptach in drav meir? Can u please tell me about it? Are u happy with it? Does your daughter feel different, low self esteem because shes there? Did it effect her negatively in any way? Are the girls in ptach regular girls that just need help learning? Or r they behavioral or social issues?

My daughter is in Ptach, in BY Drav Meir. The ptach girls wear the BYDM uniform, follow their school calendar and often participate in mainstream class projects (like before a yuntif).
My daughter doesn't suffer from self esteem issues by being in that program. We are able to tell ppl that she goes to BYDM, they don't need to know that she's in ptach. My daughter understands that because of her adhd and ld, she does well in a small class that works at a slower pace. She understands that she's in a special ed program but knows that different ppl need different things and everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. Ptach also ran a program where they taught the girls about adhd, dyslexia and other ld related differences, helping to inform them and thereby remove the stigma.

Thank you!
What about their social skills?
And is anyone there just for ld? Or does everyone have other things as well?
Do the girls feel different or get bullied from their classmates that r not in ptach?

from knowing a bit about kids in diff Ptach, if a child has social issues, dont rely on any program. supplement it with a good therapist long term work. Only a parent working with a good therapist can really make a diff. School will work with therpaist, but wont do the work a therapist does. if your kid need social skills, Ptach or not - pls do not delay. the child is suffering or will suffer. why not resolve now?

I have very passionate feelings on the topic. Has your daughter received special ed services up until this point? Like p3, speech, resource room etc? Is the school saying it is not enough? By law, your child is entitled to the least restrictive environment (LRE). To go from the regular classroom without any support to only a special ed class is just plain wrong. The right thing to do is first see if the extra support is necessary to help the child along before placing in just a special ed setting.
