I’d like to start a gemach... looking to spend about $500 to begin with.
Any ideas for items lacking/useful/expensive etc. around town?

Maybe a bridal shtick gemach
Jump ropes that light up - parachute white
Arches
Pom poms etc I would ask people to leave a deposit and ask at least twenty five dollar donation and make sure they return it quickly for the next wedding

You can look in the book for gemach ideas. The big question is, what does your neighborhood not have? Then, do you have the money and space for it?

Sensory items/toys for children
Such as-
weighted vest, lap pad etc
Fidget toys, squishy balls etc
Vibrating items
Therabands
Balance boards
Suction swings
Etc etc etc
These things are so expensive and it’s so hard to know which will work for your child. It would have been so nice to try it before I paid big bucks for it... also- my sons needs kept on changing so what he liked one week didn’t work for him the next

I don't live in Lakewood but I have a table/chair gemach. I have rectangle and round tables and folding chairs. Bh it's really busy.
I would love to start a gemach for a kids knee scooter (I have one pink, just need to buy a blue one) since when did broke her toes we couldn't get one anywhere ant ended up buying one.

Another thing I lend out a lot but done have an official gemach is blow up beds.

There are many useful gemachs around, see what your community is still missing. Ex carseats. playpens. maternity simcha wear. boys wedding suits.

All different types!!!
I bought my son 150 dollar version! It’s a tube with a board that you put on top and wiggle to stay balanced. Then there are cheaper one piece types that you balance on....
also: little trampolines, crash pads are great but all expensive
