We had sheva brachos all week this week. DH and I are sick of heavy, unhealthy food. I would like to make simple, non-heavy foods next week to allow our stomachs to settle. I need foods that are kid-friendly, so no quinoa (which they won't touch) or the like.

Please post recipes, even if it's a simple soup or salad. Thanks!

Shredded Chicken:
Basic idea: cook chicken cutlets in a pot of boiling water over medium heat for about 1.5 hours until it's very soft. Then use 2 forks to "pull it apart" and "shred it".
Serve it over baked sweet potato, rice, tacos... anything.
I usually saute some onions before boiling the water. And then add whatever flavoring u want to the water: bbq sauce, duck sauce, seasoning... etc.
You can also put this in a crockpot in the morning on low.

Honey Glazed Salmon with Peppers:
- 2 large peppers, thinly sliced (I prefer 1 yellow, 1 red)
- red onion, halved & thinly sliced
- oil
- salt
Toss all together on cookie sheet. Roast on 350° for 10 min.

Sauce:
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oil
Ginger
Black pepper

Mix together. Pour over salmon.

Add salmon over the roasted peppers. Put back in over for however long needed.

Pastrami Meat Pizza:
Sauté cubed pastrami and mushrooms in a pot with oil and spices, then add ground beef to the pot and mix.

Cut open a slice of Brooklyn Bread; bake it until it crisps up. (I usually skip this step).

In a separate dish mix tomato sauce, BBQ sauce and spices then smear it on bread, add beef mixture, sprinkle some more of the tomato sauce mix and top it with lemon garlic dressing.

Bake till well done.

Baked Salmon with Avo Paste
Bake salmon with ur favorite seasoning.

Avocado Paste:
-- 1 avocado
-- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
-- 1 clove garlic
-- 1/4 cup oil
-- 1/4 cup milk
-- salt and pepper to taste

Blend in to a paste. Place spoonful over baked salmon.

I once made the following with leftovers:
Cooked penne pasta
Cooked broccoli
Sauteed leftover ground meat and chicken.
Mixed it all in a pot, added whatever sauces I had in the fridge and u have a wholesome one bowl dinner.

Make a salad bar! Shredded lettuce, diced veggies, two types of protein. Let them choose their combo.

Chummus platters, with Israeli salad and falafel balls

Eggs in a frame.

Just really simple food.

Burgers is popular in my house.

Your post reminds me of the post- Yom tov feeling...for a week or two after we eat almost nothing but salad to detox!

Some things we love:

Zucchini 'pizzas'- slice zucchini into rounds, place on cookie sheet, put a spoonful of tomato sauce and some shredded mozzarella on each and bake

Easy meat and veggies soup: brown stew meat, carrots onion celery turnips, add water salt garlic pepper, simmer all day

Pot of noodles 😋
