Need a bridal shower gift- I thought cookbooks would be useful- What is the #1 cookbook you could not do without?

Another vote for BY, but the second one is just as good as the first so either one.

I have bH six kids and I still like table for two. I double (or triple) recipes, but I like the way they're simple and practice.

I used to call fresh and easy my bible. It was the only cookbook I got when I got married and the only one I had for a while after. There are so many useful recipes in it and I go back to it time after time.

Spice & spirit purple Lubavitcher cookbook is fantastic. Has everything - but not modern and no pictures.
There is a new cookbook table for 2 or something like that that has great recipes for 2 ppl. Maybe nice for a young couple.

Another vote for spice and spirit. I'm married over 22 years, and though I have lots of others, I always go back to this one.

I vote “Table for Two”. I have a few but this is my favorite yet. It has small, easy to follow recipes with very basic ingredients.

I got the original spice and spirit, yellow cover when I got married. I lost it in a house fire
and it is out of print. I got other cookbooks but spice & spirit was the best. No pictures but
TONS of recipes - all basic heimishe cooking.

bestbubby, you can buy spice and spirit in Israel still, I'm sure you can get it in other places too. Sold in shanky's.

I would definitely say for a first cookbook go with Spice and Spirit. If you are looking for a newer cookbook with lots of pictures, then my vote is for the Bais Yaakov Cookbook...either 1 or 2...I like both!

Not a Jewish cookbook, per-say, but I love Plenty. Beautiful pictures and delicious food.
Also, because I am a bread person, I like Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. Perfect for newlyweds because you can just take out a couple rolls worth of dough on any given night.
