I'm looking into booking a ticket for my son to come home from Israel for Pesach. There is a flight available through Lufthansa that is a lot cheaper. Any feedback on flying that airline?

We flew Lufthansa twice.

Kosher food was decent.

Service was good.

Seats were comfortable.

Not relevant for your son, but they were very kid friendly!

My daughter has flown a few times with them. Once she forgot a small suitcase on board. They shipped it to her for no extra charge. Very impressed with their customer service.

Just note, that the gates in Munich or Frankfurt for theTLV flight are at the end of the world, and super strict for the double security check

Othewise, all is fine and great service

Had a terrible experience with them. The attendants were rude and obviously nicer to the non Jews then to the many Frum families flying.

I had a very very good experience. I flew to my fathers levaya , he suddainly passed on and I was on a different continent. so I booked very last minute and couldnt order kosher food etc (that was not my top priority under the given circumstances).

the next flight to the destinantion in the US was a lufthansa fleight.

due to turbulances and terrible storms we had a 3 hour delay and I as sad/shocked/pale/unconfortable/hungry/ - on top of this I was scared to miss the levaya.

the strewardesses offered really nice looking food- I didnt touch anything. after 4 hours they came to me and asked very carefully if I was well, if I needed anything. I told them im a bit nervous, I might miss my own fathers levaya im also hungry to be honest (I explained I eat kosher etc)...

she brought fresh uncut fruit from business class spoke to the pilot, they made me sit the last two hours of the flight right at the exit (business class), they made me exit FIRST and had me escorted by some people so I didnt have to wait at the passport control, I was literally treated like a vip!!!

from landing till cab it took me 15 minutes (and thats a huge airport) I just just made it to the levaya on time thanks to the amazing crew!!! (the pilot communicated with the tower and arranged the escort etc).

the pilot and copilot and head of cabin crew expressed their condolences (and I mean who am I? I looked like a shmatta, tired, a gurnisht)
very caring!

so I wrote them a letter to the lufthansa customer department in frankfurt and expressed my gratitude.

be it not for their effort I would have missed the levaya, despite the fact that I spent a fortune for a last minute transatlantic flight, left my kids all kind of unarrranged and I didnt have much money on me...

AN AMAZING AIRLINE

hi "notshanarishona", that is so interesting. I never thought of that. I mean we consume many goods and give our money to many horrible regimes/companies etc.

trust me I know history, its not that im ignorant. but in todays world I find it almost impossible to only support those that I find morally worth supporting.

especially in israel I see many charedim buying bosch/siemens/wmf/solingen/german cars/miele/krupp/tefal/birkenstock/dr oetker/hugo boss... most of these companies are old, they existed prewar, often supporters of naziregime.
(bosch is discussed often on this forum they produce kitchenmashines for example)

I live in europe, here I see also many standard items imported from germany too.

lets say I hate childlabor, I dislike chinese communism, most diamonds on the market are blooddiamonds, ...MANY MORE EXAMPLES... I dont stick to fair trade organic tracable products from regions I can trust. maybe I should. but I dont. even if I have the choice between an alternative product often I may choose the cheaper/more convenient/accessible version rather than the morally more supportable one (SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH)

todays german politics I dont find better/worse than other european politics. yes I believe that the german nation is rasha (or many of the germans) but there are also jews living there (thats a diffrent discussion) and theoretically by purchasing german products I support also them. this argument is weak I understand, but I dont support hitler, maybe his nephews.
(I grew up with my grandparents who were in auschwitz for 3 years, who survived 4 differnet other camps and who lost all their relatives in shoa, yet drove a mercedes and listened to wagner - I dont want to claim its right or wrong what they did, but they saw no connection between todays lufthansa and hitler '39). what about the entire world who KNEW and closed their borders for jewish refugees and lioterally nodded /agreed to that millions of yiddishe neshomes should go up the chimney? their airlines are ok?

would you fly austrian airlines? air baltic? LOT?

im not cirticizing I am really interested in how you do this. (and again sorry for my english and in case it soujnds cynical, it really is not meant cynical)
