It's an unnecessary chumra that has formulated over the years. The halacha is that soap doesn't need certification for cleaning pots.

Ajax or baking soda or both with hot water and use either steel wool brillo pad or soap pad to scrub it with some windex or fantastic and it looks sparkling clean

Do you know if Bar Keeper's Friend can be used on Pesach?

We use regular cleaners per the OU (including dishwashing detergents, oven cleaners, silver polish, bowl & tub cleaners, furniture polish, detergents, glass cleaners).

I have used vinegar and baking soda in the past and it worked very well. I had soaked paper towels with vinegar overnight, then added baking soda and with some elbow grease and a plastic spoon (didn't want to scratch it too much) got most of gas range clean. Then washed it down with dish soap.
