Tableware is popular. Dessert dishes, serving platters, a vase.

I can’t imagine why silver would be unpopular other than its price.

Because you have to polish it and there is already so much work to do.
Silver to me, is just another burden, a pointless task. Please give me crystal or stainless steel instead.

Many kallahs are not getting married with dining room sets anymore no China closet where to put it. Silver was mostly non-existent as gift in last few years because of crazy prices, but it has made a comeback somewhat when the price of silver dropped

I see lots of stuff set up by gift table like colored glasses with pitcher or wine holder, salad bowls with salad spoons, dessert cups,
rolled up initial doormat, marble cutting board ( can double as challah board) challah cover, wash cup or stand with initial finger towels, centerpieces like vase with fake flowers, initialed cloth napkins with napkin rings, umbrella stand, dip holders, glass round dome cake holder with a cover.

And then you meet the picky mother of the kallah. I decided a gift certificate to the store the kallah chooses would suffice. Of course the store was chosen by the kallah's mom....
The gift cert works because then I won't have to hear back about the gift I bought that's it's not the authentic one... Banging head

What community is this?
Chassidish circles are still getting dining room sets, but usually crystal gifts at tenoyim. Can't imagine why someone wouldn't want silver.
I have a regifting closet and that is generally what I give (crystal dishes, serving platters, plants, etc.)
