No I think that’s perfect! Do what feels good.

Exactly, that what I was thinking, I need to do what I'm comfortable doing, but on the other hand I really wanna show appreciation.

She feels it...
When you’re ready write something nice
If you’re ready now- explore these feelings with her!
If you’re ready for a thank you on a small scale- write a little email thank you
Therapy is a process- do you!

How do you express appreciation? Tell he.. write a card? You don't have to express appreciation the same way everyone else does.

I gave it to her in her hand. She thanked me and put it aside and we had a regular session.

You can hand it to her at the end as you’re leaving if that feels better or not give at all.

I work in a mental health office with social workers and a psychiatrist in the NY area.

Every Purim, clients bring mm and mostly leave at the front desk for their therapist starting Adar. It's cultural, some clients bring some don't. Many food items are put in the break room.
I see pencil holders, coffee mugs, little plaques, pens, poems, etc. in some offices too.

There is a rule that any gift of money or any gift worth more than $50 must be returned to the giver.

Oy I'll need to avoid the break room the next 5 weeks!

Yes I’ll give again.

But honestly I thought it was a given in the frum world. (I probably wouldn’t if it wasn’t someone I saw every week)

There are other ways to show appreciation - verbal thank you at the end of each session, giving feedback.

The problem is that when I say thanks at the end of a session it feels more like the polite thing to do rather than a real acknowledgment of appreciation
