I have a cleaner come once a week, usually while I am at work.
Before they come, I put away all dishes, utensils, sponges, and food. I also swish cold soapy water around both sinks, so that any food particles still in the sink become garbage. We don't have the cleaners wash any dishes or utensils or pots.
The cleaners are trying to get to as many jobs as possible. So while I have told them not to put anything in my sinks, I'm not too worried about it. They don't hang out at my house, they do what they need to do as fast as they can, and leave as soon as they can. My LOR said that, as long as I could hypothetically come home anytime and they know that, it was OK. Occasionally I work from home or stay home if I don't feel well. Sometimes I give them a heads up, sometimes I don't. I am comfortable with their routine, as I've observed it.
