Actually, ketchup is cooked, so it's not a smoothie. Tomato dip is a smoothie.

It should be served in cups unless it is eaten with bread.

It's funny you should post this today. I went to see a friend I haven't visited for a while, and she offered me soup. It was chicken broth with rice, and she served it to me in a paper coffee cup. Coffee

Cacao "beans" are actually seeds of a cacao fruit, NOT a legume. They aren't really beans, and therefore not kitniyos. Which is a very, very good thing.

The only time I'll eat soup in a hot cup is at work, because it's easier to sip at my desk.

Fine. I'm changing it to "Runny soup is a beverage".

We love drinking soup in cups. Makes more sense than 1 spoon at a time.

my kids love when I serve them leftover Shabbos soup in a mug, they think it makes it fancy or new or who knows what.
of course then they pour about 1 billion soup croutons into the mug and have to use a spoon, so....

Using a spoon doesn't mean it's not a drink. My kids use a spoon for hot cocoa too. (Think mini marshmallows floating on top) Coffee

There is soup. Soup is a type of beverage. Like how apples are a type of fruit. Wink

My kids drink all their soups with a straw and then eat the chunks of veggies/pasta/meat with a fork or spoon.
