Years ago my sister in law asked my MIL to put a garbage in the bathroom and she refused and said it’s gross. What do you think? I have garbages in my bathroom and yes sanitary things get wrapped and left in there. Do you think it’s ok to have a bathroom garbage?

My in laws don't have either, drives me nuts. I have a small trash can with a cover in all bathrooms. It matches my vanity set. In house with females or frequent guests there needs to be a trash can in the bathroom. Where are we supposed to put our pads? Walk through the house to the kitchen garbage can?

Not to mention dental floss. Tissues. TP roll.
Empty as needed, don't paw through the contents, and it will be fine.

I can’t remember going into a bathroom that doesn’t have. Ever. Where would people dispose of unflushable items?

Not sure you can change your MIL, but yes, a small garbage can in each bathroom is the norm here.

This reminds me that I need to put in a recycling container in my bathroom. I have a really bad habit of putting shampoo bottles and spent TP rolls in the garbage.

I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t have a garbage in a bathroom.

You’re all making me feel so validated and good. Thanks. I have ZERO interest in changing my MIL. Just making sure I’m not the whacked one. Thanks all

I keep a mini tiny one in each bathroom. One with a cover and a foot petal.

If someone does not have a wastebasket in the bathroom, they are risking the very real possibility that someone will put something down the toilet that does not belong. In how many places have you seen signs "Please do not put ...."

I think the open ones are disgusting. I have closed ones which get washed and changed often

I put a covered trashcan in every bathroom and every bedroom has one as well. If it wouldn't be there where would the trash go? On the floor?

I always thought EVERYONE had a trash can in the bathroom.
Until the first time I went to my in laws for shabbos. And I had my period then.
I went to change my pad, and then realized that I don't have where to throw it out 😧

Your mother in law can do what she wants in her house.
My MIL has none in her toilet and she could do what she wants.

I was thinking of this thread this morning as I waxed my upper lip. Would I have to carry the used wax to the kitchen? Ewwwwwww.

I disagree. Is it ok not to have toilet paper or soap in a bathroom? It’s basic decency to have things people need in a bathroom ( I’m obviously talking about a normal situation in the US where people can afford these things and they are considered basic, not about a hut in a third world country without plumbing).
