We don't have such a monopoly in other cities like he Catholics had then.

To clarify, NY has reimbursements for some costs of state mandated requirements like the cost of keeping attendance or doing standardized testing. Buses are also subsidized for some. Yeshivas are eligible for education based grants.

I live in NYC and pay over $25K and then pay for transportation.
