After every wash moisturize or put a little Vaseline or any hand cream, keep it near the soap and put in lots before going into bed

This. I'm not usually one for "natural alternatives" but my knuckles are so dried and cracked that any regular moisturizer stings too much and Vaseline just leaves my hands gross and greasy. But I find coconut oil doesn't sting and the greasiness soaks in really quickly. I've taken to leaving a bowl of it out on the kitchen counter and grabbing small dabs whenever I pass by and it's helped enormously.

Just FTR, coconut oil will NOT absorb into my hands, no matter how long I wait.
But interestingly, olive oil does work for me. So if coconut oil doesn't work for you, try a different kind of oil.
