I feel so bad
I just had to tell someone
Sorry you cant come to our Mikvah
Mikvah in S.FL
She’s from NY
Sorry but I’m not taking chances

Also turned someone away last night
From Mexico

Please don’t come to our city

By that logic, the NY and NJ mikvas should be closed. I thought mikvas were said to be safe.

I know it's annoying that some people didn't obey the warnings, but I'm wondering if it's halachically allowed, after the fact, to stop someone from a mitzvah. Maybe a much higher fee for NYers as a deterrent?

I hear they have fabulous beaches in FL...no doubt part of the reason the person came from NY...I guess she will be going night swimming

Not judging but I really hope this is the guidance you got from your Rabbanim.
I work in the field too, I would ask a Rav what to do.

Please.

Don't play around with this mitzvah. I understand that you are upset and worried and angry.
Ban groceries. Ban other services.

But don't turn away a woman who comes to tovel.

You don’t sound sorry
You sound proud of yourself
There, I’ll show you NY or Mexico people.
No one should travel
You have no clue why she’s there
You judged, made a decision
You might be right, you might be wrong
But don’t be so sure
You did the right thing

The rabbanim in FL actually did put out a statement about this, including also not providing kosher food or any services to those who come from out of state. Mikvah was included.

The Rav is my DH
And he is one of the rabbeim that signed the letter.
There are other Mikvaot in the area
The rabbis warned you
YOU WILL NOT BE SERVICED

Please take heed

What if she was there before the outbreak? What if she was there for medical reasons? There are so many variables. How in good conscience can you turn her away?

If she just arrived is one thing. Is it possible that she is there for a while and has a house there?

I get you, OP. There are always those people who believe the rules don't apply to them. Or that they can just force someone's hand by showing up and placing them in a very difficult spot.

They are the most annoying, aggravating, getting-under-your-skin type of people.

Maybe it’s to preserve her sanity/ shalom bayis? We can never know.
And there are quite a few women in my community who traveled to all different places in the past few weeks. They are back home now but who knows where they were and what they’re carrying...... or what they caught from their husbands / yeshiva boys/ seminary daughters , who traveled.
I don’t think we should turn anyone away without asking a Rav.
And so glad to hear she was able to dip somewhere else.
Chlorine kills germs.
I’d send someone to sanitize room well after her, which we anyway do.
Unless Rav said not to let her in.

Don't you think her DH, a Rav, would have considered the variables? I doubt he took pleasure in turning her away. He just did what he had to do.

It seems like the rabannim in Florida all signed such a letter. My only dan lekaf zechus would be if the lady came before that came or if she has elderly / sick parents in Florida. That is the only excuse I could see for going. I wouldn't leave an elderly to fend for themself for months on end if I had someone to take care of my kids.

Thank you for answering. I am impressed with her honesty. And you did what you were guided to do.

I understand not wanting an influx of people who may or may not have been exposed at this time. Do you really believe that you are stopping corona virus from coming to Florida? Do you know that there are over 1000 cases in your state already?
