I'm looking for more ideas for a Seder main dish. Something simple that can be made in the oven (no pots please), that is not reminiscent of roasting. So far my plan is corned beef one night and roast beef another night. But I'd prefer to serve one of those at a day meal, so I'm looking for more ideas. Thanks ladies!

You can do meatballs in sauce in the oven. I do lamb meatballs.

We have schnitzels. You could coat them then make them in the oven instead of frying.

Thanks for the ideas all! Maybe I'll poach some chicken breasts in the oven and make a big salad with roasted sweet potatoes & beets.

I always serve a brisket because it can sit in the oven forever and has lots of sauce. I serve the same brisket both nights.

First of all, the seder starts late. 2ndly, after all the maror and wine and matza, do you really think anyone will want more than fish and soup?

I thought everything cooks in the oven was considered roasted.
What is the difference?
Can someone please explain as I have never made Pesach before.
I bought 2 pot and was going to sauté / boil everything.

We always have boiled chicken on the bone in a sauce. It’s YUMMMM. You can probably do frummer tea in lots of sauce in the oven.

Roasted meat is (halachically) cooked in the oven without liquid. You are permitted to serve meat that is cooked in the oven in sauce, though.

That’s what I learned. Braised meat is fine. My DH’s family minhag is to avoid roasted meat at the Seder my family minhag is to avoid red meat - we always had a roasted turkey at the Seder in my family. My compromise has been to do braised turkey. Although beef really is more festive, I might be married long enough to let go of that minhag (almost 16 years).

yup - roasting = meat exposed to dry heat in oven vs meat cooked with liquid (usually covered).
