Define "underlying health conditions"

In terms of being susceptible to complications.
Because america is one of the unhealthiest populations in the world. Most people are obese. Most are on medications for something. Even those that are not overweight or on medication--most are not active, eating healthfully, and taking care of their emotional health. Does "underlying health condition" only mean heart disease and cancer? Where is the line drawn? Do smaller, common health problems not count?
Obesity? A thyroid disorder? Depression?
Cuz if we look at it that way, about 90% of americans are majorly at risk.

Diabetes
Heart Disease
Hypertension
Cancer
Obesity
Anyone with a low immune system

Ok, so americans
Heart disease 48.6%
Hypertension 66%
Cancer ?
42.4% obese
Immune supressed?

Basically americans are EXTREMELY unhealthy.

Yes, most people are at risk. That’s a huge part of the point. Obesity, diabetes, pregnancy, asthma, smokers, plus the actually sick people...
More Americans are at risk than not.

Yes, moderate or severe asthma is considered an underlying health condition.

Although older age is strongly associated with higher mortality, it is not an "underlying" condition. I have not yet seen stats showing mortality or severe illness rates for older people in excellent health.
