you also need carbon paper to transfer a design onto the wood.
DS 12 uses it alone and has been for about a year. DH watched him the first couple times just to make sure he knew what he was doing, but now we let him use it alone. The tip does get very very hot, similar to the tip of a hot glue gun, so you need to make sure he is responsible enough to be careful

Amazon shows many items as shipping in a month or more, but if you switch the shipping address from your house to a nearby Amazon storage locker, you will quite often find that the delivery date will be in only 2-3 days, almost as fast as usual.
