I heard purell is anti bacterial and not antiviral so it might not work or not work as well as soap. Soap destroys the virus.

Soap has always been superior to purell.
Soap is also antibacterial, but scrubbing with soap and water is more likely to wash away the virus. With purell, you're just rubbing your hands together...
