That's very sweet of you. We are from BK. My husband just emailed another big store to see if they'll make an exception and help us out. Friends volunteered to drop the food off in our house so that my husband can just go home 24 hours later and grab the stuff. That's probably the safest way to avoid contamination.

If you’re from Brooklyn, can you do an online mountain fruit order that will be delivered to someone locally that you know? And then maybe that family can deliver to you?
Where’s your vacation home? Is that even feasible? How far?

There have been a lot of (hopefully) helpful and wise comments here, so I’m just going to comment on one thing. Forget the Pinterest worthy quarantine memories. All these posts and pictures about quarantine fun are such a disservice. I am in no way in your situation. But I haven’t been well for the past few weeks, and my kids are not having a Pinterest worthy quarantine experience. School is getting skipped, screens are being overused. And I feel guilty too. But my kids seem happy overall. So I’m working on getting rid of this guilt. Just do what works for you. That’s what’s most important. Good luck with everything and stay healthy! You’re doing a great job!

Wow! I'm amazed! youre doing the job of 3 people all while barely recovering from cancer. and here I'm complaining that my kids fight in the morning when I'm tryin gto drink my coffee! you just put all our problems into persspective and put us all to shame (in a good way). there's no way you're obligated to juggle all of this. You cant both work full time AND make sure all your kids are getting their classes in. Remember to love yourself and cut yourself some slack. may this whole meshugena thing be over soon with moshiach tzidekinu.... HUGS!!!

I can identify with both DH and I having to work from home and a bunch of kids with remote learning tasks. What worked for me is to decide to give up on their school work and b let them watch screens while I work. Then after work (which is less than usual because I saved my commute time and start way before kids wake up) I have time to hang out with the kids. Sounds like you’re doing the best you can and some things you just have to compromise on.
When I was eleven Israel went through the Gulf War all the kids were off of school for weeks, we watched a lot of TV is a generation (this was before the invention of the WWW) and we turned out fine.
I think whatever you can do to relieve stress is ok.

Wishing you a complete and speedy recovery.

OP.. my husband and I are BT,
My husband grew up in a sem-remote place an hour away from any kosher stores

We always traveled to places like Kansas, WV, Maine so I can think outside the box

I would strongly dissuade your husband from going into a DANGER ZONE just to get heimish food

Stick to fruits and vegetables that you can acquire locally
Buy a special filet knife and go to a local fish store and ask them to filet whole fish in front of you
Go to a dairy farm and buy from them.

You really want to risk your life for a lousy piece of fleish..

Chag K v Sameach

Stay well
