The children were not even 6 yet, all younger.

Yes, and many people do seem to think that it is therefore okay for an adult to consent on their behalf. But on the contrary, if the child is too young to consent, then nobody can.

The bigger question was, who will provide for them when they grow up? She said the shame was huge, but the worry about money was by far greater trumping her privacy and shame of exploitation.

Again, the view of an almanah, not mine.

Maybe when a family allows the video to go around, it should say so on the post.

If the people having their grief videoed and distributed for strangers to share want this, then I can't object. But these are candid shots with no fund raiser attached. It's in bad taste.

Maybe it's not about fund raising. And everything about connecting and comfort

Morally, you can argue that the child should be the one giving consent.

Legally, a parent or legal guardian can give consent on behalf of the child. How do you think that pictures of babies end up on boxes of diapers?

(Slightly off topic. I've posted a lot of details and possibly identifying information about DD on this board. I always ask her first if she's OK with it. She always answers "I don't care, it's no big deal", and then "stop asking me!"

I'm not sure how many other posters here ask their husbands or kids for permission to post about sensitive things.)

There's no connection when I, a stranger, never met and only heard of these people from YWN. The only possible justification could be a family member or fund raiser. These pictures are too widespread.

There's no respect for privacy. Not everything should be posted.
