MIT researcher: "The idea that droplets 'hit a virtual wall and stop there and after that we are safe' is not based on evidence." Is 6 feet enough for social distancing? An MIT researcher says droplets carrying coronavirus can travel up to 27 feet.

If you read the article linked, it says theoretically it could travel 27 feet, but they don't believe it will practically infect anyone at that distance, since far more people would be sick.

Enough people are sick that this makes perfect sense. It spreaded like wildfire.

As I interpret the article, it appears to differentiate between normal breathing and coughs and sneezes.

I think social distancing of Sox feet should be adequate for breathing but I would not want to be anywhere in proximity to a cough or a sneeze.

Also I would think it problematic if one got into an elevator since the air would be stagnant versus being in a ventilated space

Does it say what happens if you cough or sneeze into your sleeve? (I don't open things that make me turn off my ad blocker : )

Me neither.

Is he just saying that a human can spew his saliva/mucous up to 27 feet when he sneezes (regardless of any viral content)?

Like a huge AH-CHOO!!! with no covering of the mouth?

If so, how frequently does anyone actually do that, esp these days?

Dr Fauci doesn't think much of that study. He was asked about it on Tuesday at the White House press conference.
