Ok, here's a REAL dilemma.

I decided that this year, because moshiach is almost here + there are so many tzaros, that I'll take on myself some extra special chumros.

I studied the Haggadah and Sefer Shemos and was racking my brain trying to figure out how I can give from myself to hakadosh baruch hu in the very best possible way until... Bingo!! I had an idea!!

I'd do korban Pesach the real, authentic way. Ya know with a goat that was tied to my bed.

I went and brought a goat (don't ask it was quite the trip and the neighbors stared but we managed to drag him up to my apartment)

But here's my problem to you dear Imamothers.

I tied it with a looong string to my bed (chas v'shalom there should be any tzar baal hachaim) but the thing is that it's kind of ummm not managing in my house.

I guess goats aren't meant for city houses... who knew?

I wasn't sure what he needs to eat so I stuffed him with some of the chametz I was desperate to get rid of, but apparently that wasn't the right food because he keeps growling. Or maybe he just wants more??

And how am I supposed to get Pesach cleaning done with him on hand? He doesn't stop pacing and making a mess and tumbling into my closets.

And as far as I learned I'm supposed to be shecting it only the night before Pesach so how am I managing until then???? (Please nashim tzidkaniyos of yesteryear, share your tricks with me!)

Perhaps I should just take this as part of my mesiras nefesh?

Oh - and the shechting part - I also need any advice I can get on how to do that. Is there some book I can buy?

Please, please help me I so badly want to do this mitzvah to make Hashem proud.

I will be forever indebted to you if you help me out.

Are you really saying what I'm thinking you're saying?????

After all this, I should give up on this holy chumrah that I took upon myself??

See this is the problem with Imamother.

You ask a question but then you're not given an answer to the question you were asking. Banging head

I actually looked it up on Rav google and he says that a sheep *or* a goat is fine.

Yes, I really did my homework here! If I was gonna do this hard chumrah/ mitzvah (I'm not even sure it's a chumrah...really.... isn't it a clear cut mitzvah????) I was going to do it properly.

Take out all your purim costumes and put together a play with your children
Then share with all of us so our kids can learn all about the חשיבות of the גדי.

That was 3 hours ago.
I changed my mind.

You know the man that came crying to his rebbe that his house is tiny and he feels choked?

The rebbe told him to take in a cow.

After a few weeks the man came crying to the rebbe that the cow is making them crazy with demands. The house smells and there literally is no room.

The rebbe told him to let the cow out.

The man couldn't stop thanking the rebbe for the idea of letting the cow go and for the extra space and air he got!

I think you should keep your goat.

Some version of this needs to happen in many nyc homes for Shalom bayis if nothing else.

Or you install a Pesach kitchen and then take it out again.

I'll be honest, OP. I think you made a big mistake by choosing a goat over a lamb.

It's like the difference between a toddler and a baby.

A baby will tumble over and cry and need feeding and touch things it shouldn't, and so will a sheep. But a goat is like a toddler, curious and destructive and not mature enough to behave even after being told.

Plus sheep make better sleeping partners, because of all that fuzzy wool.

On the plus side, you can just make the string for your goat longer and you won't have to clean for Pesach. All the food will be devoured, and almost everything else will be destroyed so you'll just have to take the debris to the trash.

Wishing you much success with your new chumra!

One of the halachos of shechita is that you have to bury the blood.
Your main problem in this whole story is that you don't have a yard.
I am willing to give you all the sand from my place (when you have a yard in Israel, the sand never stays outside).
Just give me the address.
