My oven doesn’t have the self clean oven option. It’s a good GE expensive model. The rav says I can burn it out on the highest number for 10 minutes. Does it make sense? Has anyone ever done it?

I was told to EZ off and then put it on it's highest setting for 2 hours.

AYLOR. If you hold by him, and he says something is fine, then it is not a Mitzvah to make yourself more work.

The self clean option just heats at high temperature. It's the same thing. Why are you trying to make life difficult?

Sometimes you'll get a poster here saying that ovens super high heat. That's because back in the day, they were made of brick or clay, which absorb smells and tastes. A modern enamel-lined oven isn't absorbent. Clean off visible dirt, set to the highest heat (we do 2 hours) and you're good to go.
