I'm going to try the potatoes and eggs! How long do you cook eggs for?

There is no exact time as every oven is different but check after 20 mins. It can take a while until completely done. Enjoy!

I don't understand most of these responses. We always learned the importance of starting the seder with a very good appetite so that we eat the matza with relish.

Seder is not before close to 9:00 where I live. We won't be up to matzah until almost 9:45-10. I'd be hungry, cranky, weak, and bloated if I didn't eat until then. We will all eat a filling dish at around 4-5, but we won't wash on matzah. We will be hungry again by the time Motzi Matzah comes around.

So if you eat lunch at 1:00 you won’t be hungry for the Seder?

Breakfast: cereal and milk
Lunch: potato chip shnitzel and latkes

There will be soup, potatoes, meat if anyone is hungry after that.

What time do you eat the matza that you don't have an appetite any more from a meal you ate at 5 pm? We usually get up to matza after 11...

By the time we reach the matza, we're all starved!

Other than feeding dinner early to young children, my family never ate anything more than a piece of kugel and fruit the afternoon of erev pesach. We went into yom tov hungry for the taste of matzah. That's what we were taught.

That’s great if it works for you. I don’t believe in starving myself. As is, I’m always starving when we get to the matzah.

Same when I was a kid but I think only because my mom was too overwhelmed to do more. Actually we didn't even have kugel, it was more like fruit only. And most of my childhood memories of the seder were of being too hungry to focus on maggid. Once we became teens we started to make kugel etc on our own for a late afternoon snack. Which definitely helped but really isn't enough to hold most people over.
Anyway, I don't necessarily sit down for an actual meal, but I make sure there is something substantial for my family to eat late in the afternoon. We're all ready to eat by the time the seder starts but at least we don't feel like we've been fasting Smile

My husband comes from a family of people who get HANGRY. My kids have also inherited this lovely trait. So I make a late lunch/early dinner. Hamburgers or meatballs and French fries. Our seders go much smoother. 😉
