Does everyone who eats supper in the afternoon, eat another supper by shulchan orech, or is that a light meal?

This year I am only doing chicken soup. Sometimes I put out brisket and kugel. Nobody takes much. It is so late and we are tired!

We eat like at 4/5. We don't get to shulchan orach before 12. We're hungry again then but I don't serve such a heavy meal because it's late at night.

That's why we eat a big meal at 12:30/1. Cholent, hot dogs, salad.
Then we do showers, naps and finish prep and cleanup.
As an aside, they really sleep- maybe the after effects of the cholent.
When they wake up and get dressed, at around 5, we have kugel, fruit, soup. Light and more nibbly.
So no one's hungry and kvetchy at the Seder, but plenty appetite by 11:30 when it's time for matza.

Generally, if you don't eat kitniyot on Pesach, then you don't eat it once you can no longer eat chametz.

I don't understand most of these responses. We always learned the importance of starting the seder with a very good appetite so that we eat the matza with relish.

Wow we aren't meant to fast all day. Poor kids omg 😬 trust me we're hungry by the time we get to moitzi matzoh Smile

For breakfast there's leftover cereal and muffins.
If you serve a nice filling "late lunch", you won't have your kids grazing and asking for food all day. Around 2:00 everyone sits down and I serve a vegetable soup, fish (sea bass) and a vegtable kugel. End off with a fruit salad. Then there's baths and naps. When they wake up they can have cake with leftover fruit salad for the older ones and something more substantial for younger ones.

I'd rather that then hungry cranky kids (husband) that are noshing all day

Shulchan Orech is not supper time! It's way too late for adults and kids for it to be supper Smile we have shnitzel, kugel and cold cuts at about 5ish. Then at the seder we are all quite ravenous again.

My kids nap at some point of the day. Whenever they wake up is lunch/early dinner.
Chicken over potatoes
Soup
Potato kugel

Shulchan orech is short and sweet- fish and salad, soup, and dessert- fruit salad.
