When and how? Other didn’t make it into the poll. Feel free to elaborate.

I used to use it just to hug the person, didn't know it can be used otherwise but once I saw so many posters talking about using it the other way I sometimes do.

Sometimes when I see a hug, I double read the post. If I see a real hug reason I figure that's why. Like if I off hand mention my divorce, I'll take any hug to mean someone is hugging me for that.

That is synonymous with an existing option.

The poll option that was left out is "To let people know that I am plotting to murder my husband".

The "other hugs" bug me, because I feel like it's saying, "you're so cute, but you're clueless". It's too condescending for my taste. Please don't hug me and make fun of me with one click.

Right but sometimes I’ll write a post about how I love jelly beans (who me?), and I can’t figure out what the hug is for.

In that case I would hope the hug was "omg I love jelly beans also, thanks so cool twinsies!"

If such a high percentage of posters only ever use the hug button for genuine hugs, who's doing all the downvote hugs?
BTW my very first post here was a link to a funny Stamford Hill CV clip on instagram, and for some reason it got hugged. Go figure.

They're too ashamed to respond to this thread
Ppl don't realize that poles are skewed in that way...or maybe they do

Polls will always be skewed to the type of people who answer polls. In fact. I think o once saw a stat that I want to say either 40 or 60 percent of people asked to participate in polls decline .

Interesting. What’s the “type” of person who responds. I generally answer every survey and poll.
I find it fun and interesting.
