I definitely see the appeal of homeschooling now. My kids are so much happier, we seem to accomplish so much more in a shorter duration of time...at the time when they usually come home from school they are, for once, NOT drained, exhausted and emotionally spent. And....they dont have mountains of homework that take up their whole night, yet I still know they are learning and retaining.
Its beautiful

While we’re loving the more relaxed schedule, my kids are definitely not learning as they would in school! Nope, no homeschooling for us. Also they really miss their friends.

I‘d love to homeschool, that would be great but it‘s forbidden in my country 🙈

Democrats are trying to make it forbidden here as well. They need to make sure all
kids are in public school so they can be brainwashed into good little socialists (Democrats).

Yes.
It won’t be practically feasible most likely. But I definitely see now how doable and beneficial it is. Especially since my kids are gifted and one has ADHD.

I want to. I always had very mixed feelings about my kids' school, but now that I can see the inner workings, things are worse than I thought. We live OOT and this is the only school, but can't move right now for various reasons. If I wasn't worried about their social lives I'd homeschool them in a second.

Despite accounts I've heard on Imamother, I have never meant anyone IRL that was homeschooled and was not a social misfit, so I won't really end up doing it Confused

Ditto. My biggest reason for not homeschooling is for my kids social lives. It’s perfect now since all kids are in the same boat but won’t be sustainable once school starts.

No way!
I spend my days now being interrupted from my work refereeing fights between my kids. They need the break from each other that school is. They also really miss their friends. My teenage daughters need their social life back!
And my son is profoundly dyslexic and had focusing issues and the school he goes to has figured out how to reach him. He's excited to go and he LEARNS! At home there are too many distractions for him to learn effectively and the wonderful teachers and therapists aren't here.
We all miss school here :-(

No, thank you. We all need a change of both physical and social scenery. And I like the input I get on my kids development from their teachers and administrators.

If my kids went to a school with a lot of pressure, it would be different, but BH we like our school!

Yes! I see how much time is wasted and how I could do things differently if I was the teacher!

Almost. Three things hold me back:
1. When I'm ill, and I'm ill pretty often these days, the world would implode.
2. I don't think it's healthy to have only one main educational role model. We learn much from a variety of teachers, and most of it isn't school subject matter.
3. I think there is huge educational value in learning to work in a group setting which isn't tailored to you. I have 3 friends whom were homeschooled, and despite their independence, brilliance, and creativity, they all have a terrible time succeeding as adults - because they don't know how to put their heads down and just plod through whatever unpleasantness is woven through an experience. This comes up in schools, jobs, relationships... Everywhere. And it's a debilitating handicap for all 3.

So I am regretful about going back to school. I really enjoy spending these days with my kids, even though we all need built-in breaks. But I think I will send DS back, eventually: the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

So true.
Or, one can have enough siblings to mimic a classroom environment! No skills are like the skills learned in a large family.
Either way, homeschooling would either seriously handicap the child or the parent.

I enjoy seeing the methods the teachers use for different subjects but not my line. End of story

No, and certainly not while trying to perform a separate full-time job in the same room as the children I am homeschooling.
