How should I bake it or cook it? I always thought it meant to be similar to sweet potato

I like the taste of both sweet potatoes and acorn squash plain with just some salt and pepper or garlic powder. Some people do the acorn squash a bit sweet brushed with maple syrup and a bit of cinnamon.
It's really a matter of preference but I don't care for sweet potatoes with marshmallows, brown sugar, pineapple etc.
I will often do just a plain baked sweet potato instead of a russet potato because a plain yam or sweet potato is a bit healthier than a regular potato.

It’s naturally sweet so you can make it sweeter or add some contrast by adding some herbs and/or tang. I don’t like cinnamon on vegetable but that’s an option. I like Rosemary or thyme on roasted squash

I drizzle maple syrup and toss in some frozen cranberries before roasting

I ended up smearing it with maple syrup and cinnamon and a drop of salt. It burned but the taste was delicious. Gonna do it again tom and watch it more carefully.

I halve it, smear oil, sprinkle a little salt and sprinkle cinamon liberally. Bake upside down wirh peel facing up.
