Toms River is very nice. Make sure you have schools set up before you come. They’re a nightmare.

Literally everything is in Lakewood. If you have any kids who need services, you might want to consider moving there to begin with. Some schools have a TR bus. I’ve noted that multiple schools share one and it takes a while to come.

All schools and stores are in Lakewood.
Find out if mikvah is walkable to house Friday night (if care).
Most shuls are basements or in ppls house so find a situation you are comfortable with.

Also note that it's not very feasible or practical to live in Toms River if you don't drive.

Find schools first. Check out shuls and see which areas you like.

I recently moved from Brooklyn to Toms River myself. I am chasidish. Husband wears a shrreimel. The shul we daven in has the nicest mix. Very friendly. About 15-20% in shtreimels. And everybody is part of it. I really love it here.
I was going to go anon, but figured I would post with my screen name in case anyone has any questions.

That's so nice! Which shul in Toms River has this unique mix?
I've heard Rabbi Turin shul is also very nice mix

We are a chasidesh family in contract on a house in the Vicenza area ,we have lived in lakewood for the past 20 years and my husband is very nervous about moving to Toms river becuase he is afraid that it has a bad name and it will negatively effect my sons shiduchim . He was also warned by lakewood people that once he moves to Toms River he will be considered less heimesh. How can I put my husband at easy about the move, additionally he has his oilem now in lakewood and now he has to start from scratch which is very difficult for him. I wanted the move becuase I am in low 40 now and I feel u want more of a private property rather than living in a single family development in lakewood.

He’s not wrong. There’s value to both sides you need to decide what’s a priority or/ and ask a Rav . Unless I was truly miserable I would never leave a place where my husband felt like he belongs. Risking too much for the whole family.
